The Sensational 70s - '77 Rangers @ '75 Red Sox

This was a much needed win and first one at Fenway this season. It broke a three game losing streak as the big bats of the '78 Brewers swept the Sawx in their first home set of the season pummeling the pitching staff for 24 runs in the series.

The opening game of this series was a see-saw affair that saw Boston jump out to a 3-0 lead after 3 innings. The Rangers mounted a comeback to tie things after 5 innings off starter Bill Lee who would turn in the quality start going six innings and allowing 3 ER. Light hitting Denny Doyle push a solo homer over the wall in left in the seventh, but once again, Texas roared right back with Bump Wills returning the favor in the eighth with a solo shot off Roger Moret. This was part of a 2 run inning putting Texas up by one at 5-4. Boston countered with Fred Lynn wrapping a solo blast around the Pesky Pole to tie things up.

Texas grabbed the advantage in the ninth, but Dwight Evans tripled into the triangle scoring Doyle to send the game to extras. Dick Drago came in in the ninth and tossed 3.2 innings of scoreless relief, and in the twelfth with a runner aboard, Carlton Fisk walks things off in grand fashion for the home team.
