The Sensational 70s - All - Stars, Stats & Standings

Here are the final all-star voting results for my "Sensational 70s" classic baseball The mid summer classic is being held at Target Field due to the fact that I'm using MLB The Show 14 to play this classic season.Below all players are in order with respect to total votes cast by the "virtual" fans with some stats. The finalized roster underneath each voting graphic.

  American League All-Star Voting

American League All - Star Roster
  • Pitchers - J.R. Richard, Ron Guidry, Ken Forsch, Bert Blyleven, Dennis Leonard, Tim Stoddard, Adrian Devine, Dick Drago, Rich Gossage, Tom Johnson, Roberto Hernandez, Tom Johnson
  • Catchers - Darrell Porter, Brian Downing, Jeff Newman
  • Infielders - Rod Carew, Ron Fairly, Willie Randolph, Duane Kuiper, Eric Soderholm, Craig Nettles, Alan Bannister, Alan Trammell, Wade Boggs, Julio Cruz
  • Outfielders - John Lowenstein, Hal MacRae, Oscar Gamble, Gary Roenicke, Al Bumbry, Reggie Jackson, Al Cowens
Note - Rod Carew is listed twice as he is representing the '79 Angels and the '77 Twins. He was voted a first team all-star from the Angels. Jim Essian is also representing two teams: the '77 White Sox and the '78 A's.

I really am puzzled by the selection process as Cecil Cooper was certainly deserving as was Bobby Grich of the  '79 Angels.  Also Fred Lynn could have easily made it as an extra outfielder. Dick Drago was the only Red Sox representative which was a bit disappointing.

  National League All-Star Voting

National League All - Star Roster
  • Pitchers - Fred Norman, Doug Rau, Randy Jones, Tommy John, Vida Blue, Buddy Schultz, Ron Reed, Bryan Harvey, Elias Sosa, Rollie Fingers, Charlie Hough, Rawly Eastwick

Below are the standings at the break. The '78 Dodgers are the best team in the Majors and also lead in runs scored. The '79 Expos (Nationals)  have surrendered the least amount of runs overall. In the American League, the '77 White Sox are tops in runs scored and were the hottest team going into the break. The '78 Yankees have yielded the least amount of runs and the second best team overall..The '75 Red sox are in a wildcard dogfight with three teams in the AL Central nipping at their heels.
